Blake's swimming lessons

Blake and I do swimming lessons every Sunday at the Jewish Community Center. It is really, really fun and much more of a "lesson" than I thought it would be. I signed him up thinking it would just be splashing around in the kiddie pool, but it's actually in the deep water (4 feet) and the parents get to learn stuff too.

At the end of each lesson, the teacher comes around and submerges the child- kids can actually hold their breath instinctively until they're about 2 years old. So, they don't even have to learn how to do that if you start them early enough in swimming. Today at the end of class, the teacher took each child and had them "swim" back to their parents. She got across the pool and then upon her submersion, she kept them under water and guided them all the way back to mom. Each kid got to go twice and none of them really even got too upset. Blake likes swimming.

It's really fun.

Me and Brad

Ok, after much waiting and anticipation.....

Here is my picture with Brad Paisley. I am very excited that I actually had my eyes open! And, he is actually a little taller than I remember. I think the camera man needs to go to photo school to learn how to center a subject in the picture, but no worries, I can crop that out before I print it.

Enjoy!!!!

the joys of motherhood

so for those of you easily grossed out, please feel free to stop reading this post at this point....

you're still here? ok, here goes

My dad was here visiting for the week last week. On Thursday we went out to dinner and then came home to do the whole bathtime/bedtime routine. Prior to getting in the tub, Blake soiled his diaper (I'll pretty up the language). I thought "oh good, now were free and clear to get into the tub." Well just a few minutes into the bath Blake "soiled" the tub too. I didn't know what to do, so I just pulled him out and started draining the tub- you have to clean it after that, you know?

So while I went down the hall to get the cleaner, he started crawling after me and I realized "OMG, he's peeing in the hall!" Now I have two messes to clean up and how do you decide which one to do first. Well, the choice was made simple for me for as I was moving him back into the bathroom (where the was a towel on the floor) I noticed him sitting on the floor pooping (I forgot I was using the word soiling, wasn't I). So now there is a pile of pee, a pile of "soil" (in a different spot) and the tub full of mess. I picked him up and put him in the back shower and shut the door until I could clean everything up, then I gave him a quick shower and off to bed. YUCK, right?

Well, that wasn't it. As I checked in on him later that night I smell something funny in his room- yep, turns out he had thrown up in bed too. Delightful.

So as most of you that read this have kids, I'm sure it's funny (it is when it isn't happening to you) and those of you that don't have kids (if you're still reading) must just think it's gross. oh well

not too much

Nothing major to report here except Blake has learned to climb. And climb everything. He started with the bathtub- climbed/slipped right out while he was all wet. Today he figured out how to climb the couch. Well, it wasn't long until he figured out how to go up the back of the couch right onto the kitchen counter. I am guess it won't be long now until he takes a face-plant right off the counter. I'm also guessing it won't be long until he gets out of the crib- oh joy.
