Now, you may be thinking "oh today is the big 34 week mark." Which, technically, yes it is. But there is more to the story.
Today I went to the doctor for my check-up and among the other things I asked him was "can you tell how big the baby is or might be?" He told me no, not really for another couple weeks. Well then he started measuring my belly and said "you're measuring exactly 34 weeks, so that's good." Then he felt my abdomen for the head and other features and said "well.....it's a big 34 weeks." And started smiling and laughing a little bit. I said "how big?!" Answer "well you and Sheldon are both big people, you can't expect to have a really small baby." WHAT!?!?!
So, I guess this is going to be a big baby. I can handle anything under ten pounds, I guess.
The baby is already head-down though, so that's the good news- my giant baby is in the right position to come out naturally. all 10 lbs of him.
A fun way to catch up with the always interesting and mostly funny things that happen to me on a daily basis. And a great way to see recent pictures of the kids.

Another fun lunch with grandpa
Today we went to lunch at the same Italian restaurant as the last fun lunch with grandpa (see previous blog if interested), except today we actually went at lunch time- i.e. not 10:30 am. Actually he wanted to go at 12, but I reminded him that it might be pretty crowded at 12 so we better go just a bit earlier. We decided to meet at 11:30.
I don't know what time he arrived, but when I got there at 11:25, he was already there and looked like he had been waiting a while. So, I sat down at the table and he told me that he had already moved once because there were three guys at the next table and "they were talking so loudly!" Which, I'm not sure they were, but whatever. I could tell the waitress was agitated because he moved from her table to another section that she wasn't waiting on. Anyway, turns out he didn't like this new table either because three people came and sat next to us and he was worried they would be too loud too. So I reminded him that it is lunch time and it will probably be crowded so it doesn't matter where we sit, it will probably be a little loud.
Lunch was basically nice except he doesn't really listen to what you have to say, he just talks about what he wants to talk about- but knowing this, you don't get too upset when he just starts talking about something seemingly random.
The kicker of the day- he asked if we had thought of a name for the baby yet and I told him yes, we like the name Blake. Then he got this sour look on his face and said "I've never heard that name before. What kind of name is that? Who picked it, you or your husband?" I actually knew this would be the reaction, so it kinda amused me. I told him it's a fairly common name these days and that I know a few guys named Blake and that we both agreed on it. to which he said "well, as long as you both like it......" nice, huh?

Ok, ok, ok
Ok, so I realize it has been a VERY long time since I posted. Since you last heard from me, I have:
-had a birthday
-had a baby shower
-put hardwood floors in my house (ok, I didn't do this, but I did lots of vacuuming and painting along the way).
-agreed on a name for baby (I think)
First, the birthday. It was nice, but nothing too exciting. I suppose that is how it goes as you get older. Sheldon was out of town, so I spent the evening with my mom and then went to lunch the next day at a yummy mexican restaurant.
Second, the baby shower. It was very, very fun and very, very nice. I have lots and lots of thoughtful and generous people in my life that make me feel very special. I am very grateful for all of them. I received a number of very helpful tidbits of advice from each of them. There were a few kids there and their advice was very funny- including "don't buy your child clothes he doesn't like and don't make him do too many chores."
I must have opened a thousand gifts. All of which are going to be so great and helpful when the little baby arrives. I am pretty sure the cutest thing I opened was a little tiny newborn onesie that is blue tie-dye. SOOOO CUTE! And some bling, bling pacifiers.
While I was busy eating cake and opening presents, Sheldon, his brother and dad were hard at work putting in the aforementioned wood floors. They look great and hopefully that will be our last project in this house- everything else has been done- I think.
Lastly, about the name. I think we have agreed on Blake. Not because of American Idol, we just like the name. don't worry.
