Blake's first Christmas

Our first Christmas with Blake was very nice. We spent the weekend prior to Christmas in Farmington with Sheldon's family, where Blake almost learned to crawl. We had a nice visit and then came home on Christmas Eve and started a new tradition. We went to a mexican food restaurant here called Gardunos. It was really fun- they had the strolling mariachis coming around singing Christmas carols and the leader of the group was a mexican Santa Claus. He stopped at every table and sang a little bit of the song before he moved on. The song....Feliz Navidad, of course. Blake really liked the music and also the mexican Santa. It was really fun and we have decided to make that our new thing on Christmas Eve.

And while we were at dinner, Santa visited our house and left Blake a couple gifts. Yes, we like to invite Santa to come over on Christmas Eve to free him up a little for the rest of the deliveries he has to make that night. Anyway, Blake got a jack-in-the-box, which he really likes but gets pretty upset that the clown doesn't actually come all the way out of the box. I guess we'll save that toy for a little while. He also got a little phone that plays music. We had asked people to buy him books in lieu of toys and boy, oh boy, did he get the books. I counted 30 books! I'm glad though. I think we have almost been through them all already.

We went to my mom's house for Christmas dinner and had a nice time there too.

I hope you and your families and friends had a nice Christmas and I hope you have a happy and healthy new year!!

At long last

Ok, so I hope you find it worth the wait.

Here are the pictures of our new computer. Now, keep in mind that a photograph can never do this thing justice, but at least you can see it. Oh, one more thing, when you boot it up, it plays "Pink Cadillac." Is that a crack up or what?!

Not only does it look good, but this thing is FAST. It boots up and is connected to the internet in less than 30 seconds. soooo nice.

Pink Cadillac

We just got the coolest computer EVER! I don't have a picture of it yet, but trust me, it will be worth the wait for you to see the pictures.

Sheldon has a co-worker that, as a hobby, makes computers. He searches all over the internet and gets the best deals on all the parts and once he accumulates all the necessary parts, he puts the whole thing together. We have been waiting for about 3 months, but since we have a computer that works (barely), we didn't mind the wait. And the best part is that since he waits for all the good deals, he can keep costs low and make a killer machine.

First, you're thinking "pink cadillac? what does that title have to do with a computer?" Well, the computer is pink, yes pink. and Dr. Bang (the computer guy), bought all these cadillac emblems and put them all over the computer. The button to turn the computer on is a route 66 sign. But, the very, very, very best part of the computer is the set of horns (not instruments) mounted to the top of the computer! I'm not even kidding. Yes, this is the tackiest computer ever, but also the coolest thing you've seen. I can't wait to get some good pics.

Not only does it look great, it is super-duper fast and has all the bells and whistles that the expensive computers have. We finally have a DVD burner and we got this great software that makes slide shows out of your photos and now that I know how to get the camera to do video, I can burn some videos and send them on. YAY!

Anyway, we're off to Farmington for a few days. Gotta show Blake off to all the folks up there. We'll be back for Christmas Eve. Let's hope for good driving weather. bye!

Bathtub

Last night was Blake's first bath in the big tub. Up until now, he has been bathing in the plastic tub that fits in the sink. You can see in the picture that we had a going away party for that tub- complete with muffin cups. :)

Here is a pic of Blake in the big tub and a little video of him splashing around- if you feel like watching it.

BTW- He loved the bath and was in there for about 30 minutes! Only problem is that he is much harder to wash in the big tub. Oh well.

More teeth!

Yes, Blake has his second tooth. So, all he wanted for Christmas were his two front teeth and that is what he got. Hopefully he'll be back to sleeping through the night now.

He was doing great on his sleeping pattern from about 3 months to about 5 months, then the teeth started on their way out and it got messed up. I guess I can't complain too much because most nights he is only up once, but there was a time there when he wasn't up at all so it was VERY nice for us. Anyway, he goes to bed about 8pm (after a lengthy struggle to get him to take his bottle) and usually doesn't wake up until about 3 or 4 am at which time he takes a small bottle (we make 3 oz, but he usually only drinks 2) and then back to sleep until we wake him up at 6:45 to get ready to go by 7am. It is my opinion, however, that since he is only eating 2 of the 3 oz that we are making, he really isn't that hungry and really just wants the company. Oh well. It only takes 10 minutes to make the bottle, feed him and put him back down.

I have some recent pics, but can't seem to get the computer to pull them up. Once I do, I'll post those.

The inevitable

Well, Blake finally has his first cold. We actually caught this cold from his little cousin when we were in Oklahoma but Blake never seemed to get it, which we thought was quite lucky. We were both sick and Sheldon is just starting to feel better again. So, now Blake is sick and getting his second tooth, so he is just a lovely child right now.

Anyway, yesterday I was at Wal-Mart and I was carrying Blake around in the Baby Bjorn so I wouldn't have to push him in the cart (which he hates and within a few minutes everyone else in the store hates it too). He had been coughing and each time he would cough, I'd try to cover his mouth with my hand. Well, we walked around for a while and when we were looking at dog toys, he looked up at me and there it was.....a BIG green booger running down his nose. I have no idea how long it was there and how many people wondered what kind of mother lets her kid have a boogery nose. I know that I used to be the person who wondered that kind of thing, and now I am that mom. Oh well, at least we were at Wal-Mart and fit right in. :)
